Data Request Analysis
Our client was subpoenaed with 30 data requests pertaining to hundreds of specific documents. We analyzed the requests, distilled them into manageable categories and pulled together a team within 24 hours to interview potential witnesses and gather the responsive data.
Data Processing
Celerity automated a spreadsheet redaction task that saved hundreds of hours in fees, ensured redaction accuracy and also allowed client attorneys to experiment with different redaction strategies until they hit upon the right one.
Privilege Review
Celerity provided facilities and our
OLIVERSM
Online Viewer to enable a team of attorneys from
two law firms to perform a three-week joint privilege
review. Of particular note: attorneys had been
working with a well-known online review tool and
switched to Celerity’s tool because of our
custom review categories and dual-screen review
capability.
Document Coding
Celerity received sudden notice of a new project deadline the week before Christmas. Working with our proven staffing partners who did an initial interview, Celerity screened over 150 candidates within a two-week time frame to obtain 92 temporary employees to perform an analytical review of technical documents.
Document Storage and Retrieval
Celerity maintains a joint defense repository that was created in 1997 to support 28 law firms across the country. The repository currently holds 320,000 records consisting of two million pages. We continue to provide flexible support via staffing levels that increase and decrease based on the volume of document requests from multiple parties. Celerity splits the billing among the defendants.
Trial Support
Celerity supported several Markman hearings for a leading law firm that argued the design patent claim construction on behalf of an international printer technology company. Prior to the hearing, Celerity prepared a significant amount of evidence, which was loaded into an exhibit-tracking database. We then worked directly with the attorneys, experts, and graphic artists to translate the evidence into an integrated and paperless presentation system. We also set up a war room and rehearsed with the lead attorney, refining the evidence and presentation, prior to court appearance. Our trial support team worked closely with the attorneys and supported them for many last minute requests, including Eleventh Hour modifications to demonstratives.
Statewide Documentation Audit
Celerity conducted an audit of 70,000 records located in 19 different offices throughout California to confirm the client’s compliance with a regulatory order. Celerity staffed the audit teams, coded and data-entered the audit results, and analyzed and reported on results. This information allowed the client to proactively address the issue and avoid further investigation.
Contract Reconciliation
A large client identified a group of contracts that were not up-to-date in the contract management and accounting system. These “uncured” contracts represented a liability and needed to be resolved to reduce the company’s litigation risk. Celerity gathered 25,000 contracts and supporting documentation, scanned and numbered the documents for control, coded 10 to 70 relevant data points on each contract and data-entered this information into a database. Celerity then analyzed the data, reported on potential exposure and recommended a priority for reconciliation.
Data Processing in Support of Damages
At the direction of counsel for a nationwide bank, Celerity consultants developed an analytical database from hard copy bond payment coupon schedule reports. This database was utilized by a “big four” accounting firm to calculate a financial damage amount. Celerity personnel managed the data entry, which included double-keying 300,000 records over a four-month period and performing validation. Double-shifts were required to maintain the schedule and the total team consisted of 45 data entry clerks. |
