Our work within these industries includes:
Bankruptcy
Assisted a client undertaking Chapter 11 with
evaluating tens of thousands of claims amounting
to billions of dollars. After a preliminary review
of the data, recommended that the client focus
on a few hundred claims that accounted for 90%
of the total dollars. Supported the claims resolution
process (identification, notification, negotiation,
resolution and payment) through managing a claims
tracking database and performing financial and
data analysis to report regularly to management
and to support numerous depositions.
Construction
Gathered construction-specific documents such
as daily logs, RFI’s, change orders, cost
estimates, blueprints and maps for litigations
surrounding public transportation, freeway interchange,
bridge, dam, electric cogeneration facility and
hotel projects.
Divestiture Support
Assisted in-house counsel with identifying, gathering
and organizing documents related to several divestitures.
Reviewed documents for relevance and sensitivity.
Established and managed a due diligence library.
Coordinated document requests as necessary.
Electric Utility
Assisted in-house counsel with multiple regulatory
efforts including discovery related to rate-making
proceedings and investigations, asset divestiture
support, reporting to the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission, and policy and procedure review, development
and implementation. Provided technical consulting
and auditing services to multiple groups within
the utility, such as engineering and planning,
new customer accounts, real estate and electric
transmission and distribution.
Financial Institutions
Gathered and processed documents to support discovery
for financial institution clients who were party
to various types of litigation such as: a merchant
class-action suit alleging unfair credit card
fees, a savings and loan’s “Winstar”
suit against the government and a shareholder
suit against a fund manager. Created analytical
databases to assist counsel and audit firms with
assessing damages, such as recreating bank statements
and calculating unpaid bond coupon amounts.
High Technology
Gathered electronic documents in an adversarial data collection at a software company accused of insider trading. Created a mirror-image system at our offices to restore and analyze the gathered data.
Insurance/Environmental
Assisted both plaintiff and defendant counsel
with discovery in insurance litigation matters
including superfund site cleanup, pipeline construction
environmental mitigation and insurance fraud suits.
Gathered, coded and reviewed industry-specific
documents such as bills of lading, hazardous waste
manifests, environmental studies, certificates
of insurance, insurance policies, material safety
data sheets and environmental safety data sheets.
Patent Infringement
Created analytical and document databases to
support several healthcare and high technology
patent litigations. Documents processed and reviewed
included schematics, research findings, patent
filings, advertisements and correspondence.
Pharmaceutical
Worked with multiple pharmaceutical companies
to provide a wide range of services from business
consulting and information management to multi-state
litigation support. Most recently, we were involved
in Average Wholesale Pricing (“AWP”)
litigation brought by multiple states and counties,
and have handled the identification, collection,
processing, review, and production of electronic
data. Celerity also assisted counsel with the
production of transactional sales data. Celerity
interviewed IT personnel most knowledgeable with
corporate accounting systems such as Oracle and
SAP, and developed cost effective data extraction
processes.
Telecommunications
Managed client discovery related to several “slamming and cramming” class-action lawsuits and regulatory investigations filed in several different states. Transcribed and coded phone conversations from call center vendors and gathered electronic data from corporate servers.
